Day trips from Gothenburg

Kungsbacka is the closest Halland town to Gothenburg, reached in well under half an hour on a train that's effectively a commuter service rather than a main-line journey. It's a small, walkable market town with an old wooden-house centre, useful as a low-key day out in its own right or as a base for reaching Tjolöholm and the beaches around Onsala and Vallda Sandö nearby.
